into the silver mouth [of time] is a 30 minute performance piece, commissioned by the New York Foundation for the Arts' City's Artists Corps Grants (CACG) program. In the summer of 2021, NYFA partnered with the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) in launching CACG, a $25 million recovery initiative designed to help artists who were both hard hit by the pandemic. As part of the program, CACG members presented workshops, exhibitions, performances, installations, murals, and much more-free and open to all New Yorkers–from July through October.
Programmed as a performance instillation at the Irish Hunger Memorial in Lower Manhattan, into the silver mouth [of time] was designed to fit snugly within the Memorial and take the audience along for a ride through time.
Audiences entered through the main passage (“Into The Silver Mouth – Monologues About Childbirth”), moved into a stone cottage (“Roofless Home – Domestic Scenes”), and walked the winding path (“Green Path To The Sky – Death and Rebirth”) to the top platform (“Into The World – Choral Chant About The Diaspora”). Directed by Britt Berke, the piece featured performances from Zoe Watkins, Clemmie Evans, Caroline Winterson, Carina Goebelbecker, and Barrie Kreinik.

Juxtaposed against the contemporary drug-fueled club scene in Dublin, In Pigeon House weaves together vaudeville, music hall, and cinema in this love letter to traveling shows. Moving between time and genres, the itinerant players Basher, Masher, Rasher and Dolly rip up the stage with a furious tornado of language and Moving Pictures. A startlingly theatrical and darkly comic oeuvre, In Pigeon House at once explodes and upholds the romantic myth of the traveling show.
In Pigeon House premiered at the Irish Theatre of Chicago in 2012. The production was directed by Brian Shaw and featured performances from Ira Amyx, Katherine Schwartz, Barbara Figgins, and John Mossman.
